The table below outlines the key concepts of BRM, you will encounter these symbols throughout BRM.


Service Offering

ServiceThe core service being offered by the store, one of up to 5 set types: Rental, Repair, Tours-Activities-Events, Appointments, ex-rental Sales.

In time Services in BRM will have custom behaviour like notifications, workflow etc

Service OfferingWhen a store uses BRM to offer a service it is named and called a service offering.  

Example: Bike Rental (in the Rental service)


Inventory
Category

TOP level of your hierarchy: This is how you organize your bikes, ensuring that both customers and staff can easily find what they are looking for.


Example: Mountain

Product FamilyLevel 2 of your product hierarchy: This represents a specific type of bike and includes various sizes within it.

Example: Specialized Stumpjumper 27.5"

Product LineLevel 3 of your product hierarchy: This represents a specific type of bike with a particular size. This is what customers book online.

Example: Specialized Stumpjumper 27.5" - Medium

ItemLevel 4 of your product hierarchy: This represents an actual inventory item, such as a physical bike that a customer rides. This is what customers take out from your store and return.

Example: SJ012 (a Specialized Stumpjumper 27.5" - Medium)

Pricing

Price Group

This is how you set prices for your bikes. Each bike is assigned to a Price Group, and each Price Group has a pricing profile based on rental durations, using specific Price Points.

Example: TrailBikes

Price PointEach time you want to recognize a duration, such as 4 hours or 1 day, you set this up as a Price Point. Then each of your Price Groups can have a corresponding price for that Price Point.

Example: 1d (for when you support 1-day pricing for your price groups)

Reservations
ReservationWhat you sell to your customers: one or more Items (or Product Lines) for a defined period of time and price.

Example: Jun0008-19 (eighth booking in June)

Instant BookingAn instant booking guarantees that the bikes are available at the time of booking. (The shop may also require a payment or deposit to confirm the booking). Instant bookings are only available with Paid BRM plans.

Booking RequestCustomers send the store a request to book certain bikes on specific dates. The store can then accept or deny the request, for instance, if the bikes are not available at that time.

Customer
Customer
Single or multiple customer icon
Optional 'layers'
ExtrasExtras can be added at the Item Level. They can be customized with your own naming, pricing, images, and other details.

Add-OnsAdd-Ons are added at the Reservation Level, such as insurance for the entire booking. 
DeliverySome stores incorporate deliveries into their business, handling either part or all of their operations this way.
